Use Protiv with Claude
Add Protiv to Claude as a connector so a Protiv manager or admin can ask Claude about jobs, hours, ProPays and bonuses. The connection is read-only and sees only what you can see in Protiv.
You add Protiv in Claude with one URL, sign in with your Protiv login and approve the connection. From then on Claude answers from your live Protiv data, and it cannot change anything in Protiv.
Before you start
- A manager or admin role in Protiv. Crew leads and workers cannot connect.
- A Claude plan that lets you add custom connectors. Free accounts are limited to one custom connector. On Claude Team and Enterprise, an owner adds the connector for the organization first.
- The connector turned on for your company. Protiv turns it on per company while it rolls out. If it is not on yet, email help@protiv.com.
The connector is included in every Protiv plan. You use your own Claude plan; Protiv does not charge for Claude.
Connect it on your own Claude account
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, click + Add and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Protiv, enter the URL
https://mcp.protiv.com/api/mcpand click Continue. Keep the sign-in settings Claude detects and click Add. - Select Connect. A Protiv sign-in page opens at platform.protiv.com. Sign in with your usual Protiv login.
- On Protiv’s consent screen, check the company shown under Company, then click Allow.
To use it in a chat, click + in the message box, open Connectors and turn Protiv on.
Add it for a Claude Team or Enterprise organization
- An owner opens Organization settings → Connectors, clicks Add,
chooses Custom → Web, enters
https://mcp.protiv.com/api/mcp, clicks Continue, keeps the detected sign-in settings and clicks Add. - Each member opens Customize → Connectors, finds Protiv and selects Connect, then signs in to Protiv as in steps 3 and 4 above.
Every person connects with their own Protiv login, so each one sees only what their own role allows.
Which company Claude sees
The connection is tied to the company you are signed in to in Protiv when you click Allow. There is no company picker. To use a different company, switch to it in Protiv, then connect again from Claude.
What Claude can see
Claude sees the same data you see in the Protiv web app, through the same permissions and branch access. Wages and labor cost appear only if your role can see them. It can:
- Check who you are: your name, the company and your role.
- List ProPays and open one: status, jobs, approval date, manager, crew leads, budget and bonus amounts, in total and per worker.
- Total ProPays for a period, by paid date or by approval date.
- Total bonuses and deductions for a period, optionally per worker.
- Show hours by worker for a period: work and drive hours, optionally for one job.
- Search jobs by name, job number or customer. A search needs at least three characters.
- Open a job: budgeted against actual hours, labor budget against labor cost, its milestones and its ProPays.
Bonus money is always split three ways: paid (settled through your payroll), credited but not paid (approved, not paid yet, including deferred bonuses) and held (held back from the worker).
Example prompts
- “How much did we pay in ProPay bonuses last month?”
- “Which ProPays were approved this quarter, and how much of their bonus is still not paid?”
- “Show hours by worker last week for the Riverside job.”
- “How is job 1042 doing against its labor budget?”
- “Who were the top five workers by bonus paid this year?”
Name the period and the job or worker. Long lists come back in pages, so narrow the period if an answer stops early.
Your data
Protiv sends Claude only the results of the questions Claude asks it, limited to what your role can see. Those results can include other people’s names, hours and bonuses. Protiv does not receive your conversation with Claude. For each request, Protiv records which tool ran, its inputs, who ran it, when, and whether it succeeded. Anthropic handles your conversations under its own terms. Read the Protiv Privacy Policy for details.
Disconnect or revoke access
- In Claude: open Customize → Connectors, find Protiv and disconnect or remove it. On Team and Enterprise, an owner removes it for everyone under Organization settings → Connectors.
- In Protiv (admins): open Settings → Integrations & Data → Connected Apps. Each Claude connection has its own row with who connected it; click Disconnect on that row. Disconnect all Zapier does not affect Claude connections.
- Automatically: if your manager or admin role is removed, the connection stops working right away.
When something goes wrong
- “The Claude connector is not turned on” for your company. Protiv has not enabled it for that company yet. Email help@protiv.com.
- Claude shows the wrong company. Switch to the right company in Protiv, then disconnect and connect again from Claude.
- The consent screen says you need a manager or administrator role. Crew leads and workers cannot connect. Ask an admin at your company.
- Protiv does not appear in Claude Code or the Claude desktop app. Connectors belong to the Claude account that added them. Sign in with that same Claude account, or add the connector there with the same URL.
- Answers start failing after many questions in a row. Protiv limits how many requests one connection can make per minute and per hour. Wait a minute and ask again.
